7-4A District Insider
Arlington Heights will take on Birdville in the first game of the Steve Hale era, while in another 7 vs. 6 game Eastern Hills will visit Saginaw.  The third of the 6-4A-74A three pack is Western Hills taking on Springtown.  North Side takes on 3A rival Diamond Hill, while Poly takes on Dallas Pinkston in what should be a good early test for both teams.  Southwest will take on Dallas Samuell while Trimble Tech looks to start the season off well against Dallas Jefferson.  Dunbar and Wyatt will both visit Abilene as DHS takes on Abilene High and Wyatt takes on Abilene Cooper.

NRH Birdville vs. FW Arlington Heights: Birdville still has a Dorman at QB although its little brother Chris now running the show.  He's got a better supporting cast than older brother did and if he can be consistent and limit mistakes the Hawks will be fine.  Arlington Heights is very young and they struggled in two pre-season scrimmages.  They are a year away from being a playoff contender.  BHS rolls big.
FW Dunbar vs. Abilene:  Dunbar will be walking into a hornet's nest on Saturday night at Shotwell Stadium.  Abilene is tough to beat at home and this is a new experience for the Wildcats.  Dunbar does have a marquee player in WR Darius White who continues to rocket up the recruiting charts, while Abilene LB Chris Williams is a beast. Abilene wins this one in a big way.
FW Eastern Hills vs. Saginaw:  Both teams are going with youth this year as they graduated strong senior classes.  Saginaw has changed offenses and will be smashmouth team behind a strong stable of backs. Speaking of RB's keep an eye on Eastern Hills sophomore RB Roscoe Lee, if you blink he's gone. This will come down to the wire and I've got a funny feeling EHHS eeks out a mild upset victory.
FW Diamond Hill vs. FW North Side: This a battle only someone in North Fort Worth would understand.  Even though the football played between these two is less than stellar there is no love lost.  Diamond Hill normally gets the better of the Steers but the worm turns this year, North Side is much improved and will win two or even three games this year.
FW Polytechnic vs.  Dallas Pinkston: We thought Poly HC Marvin Sedberry, Jr. was the coach of the year in 7-4A and he's looking to work even more miracles this year for the Parrots who are very young.  Pinkston is always a dangerous offensive team and they have a difference maker in WR/DB Lazarian Hope and I think up front the Vikings have the advantage.
FW Southwest vs. Dallas Samuell: Southwest seems like a team ripe for the taking right now, the Raiders who havent lost in the regular season since Week 2 in 2006 struggled in their lone pre-season scrimmage. Samuell should be much improved on offense and their speed at the skill spots could give Southwest all they want. I won't pick the Spartans but it would not surprise me to see Samuell pull the upset.
FW Trimble Tech vs. Dallas Jefferson:  The reports from the Thomas Jefferson scrimmage last week against Adamson didn't sound very promising.  Trimble Tech isn't getting much run as a playoff contender but the Bulldogs should be an improve lot. I think they will have their way with the woeful TJ Patriots who will struggle to win a game in 2008.
FW Western Hills at Springtown:  I think this one will be a mismatch, Springtown could really be a player in the 6-4A race as WR/DB Clayton Cooper is a player to watch.  Coach Turner is one of the best offensive minds around. Western Hills is extremely young and inexperienced and winning in Springtown is tough.  I'll take POJO.
FW Wyatt vs. Abilene Cooper: A last minute replacement Wyatt gets to take the roadtrip to Abilene.  Cooper is releshing the shot to be the big dog on the block in 4A & they'll be looking to make a statement against a Wyatt squad that can match the Cougs at the skill spots, but the Chaps lack the depth to stay with CHS. RB Marcus Turner is back to his natural spot for WHS & the player to watch for Cooper is DB Will Ford.
