At TexasPrepInsider our tag line is ‘We are There.’ And unlike some publications, we try and get out to the entire Greater Houston (and statewide) area in our coverage. Today we bring you updates from the bi-district playoff match played Saturday between Cy Creek and Cedar Park. TPI brings you game-day audio from both Region II coaches. This content is free this week so check it out.

In a game that was decided in the final seconds, it was Cy Creek defeating Cedar Park 48-42 Saturday afternoon at the Berry Center in a Region II Division II match up. It was a wild game where the momentum changed several times over the course of 48 minutes. But it was the Cougars who got the final word when Cy Creek’s Devrick Perkins intercepted a pass as time expired to secure their lead, and ultimately, the win.

Offensively the two teams combined for 1,178 yards of offense. Leading the way for the Cougars was Brent Mitchum who caught five passes for 104 yards and two scores. On the ground, he had eight carries for 137 yards and touchdown.

For Cedar Park, Dedrick McKnight (who was the MVP of their district) had 297 yards and three touchdowns. He also had four receptions for 43 yards.

TexasPrepInsider talked with coaches from Cy Creek and Cedar Park to get their thoughts after the game.
