2009 CYPRESS CREEK SQT
POOL A- CY CREEK, CY RANCH, CY SPRINGS, *CY FAIR
Cy Creek has won their pool twice so far this 7on7 season but have yet to win a
semi-final game and advance to the state tournament. With this home cooking here
in Pool A there is no way the Cougars will not advance yet again. Cy Ranch was
supposed to be at the Cy Falls SQT but didn’t make it so this will be their
first tournament plus the fact that they have no seniors could result in a long
day for the new school. Cy Springs went 1-2 in pool play at their last SQT and
only beat Cy Lakes (another school with no seniors) so that mark doesn’t look to
change any here with this pool. Cy Fair was 4-1 at the Cy Falls SQT and has
already qualified but they will try to go 3-0 here just for district bragging
rights but can they beat rival Cy Creek?
-Jay’s Pool A Winner: CY CREEK (then *Cy Fair, Cy Springs, Cy Ranch) Darkhorse:
Cy Springs
POOL B- CY FALLS, SECOND BAPTIST, JERSEY VILLAGE, *KLEIN
Cy Falls almost qualified in their own SQT and then competed very well in the
Texans SQT last Sunday. It took a touchdown as time ran off the clock for Klein
to defeat them and they beat Woodlands so I will take the Golden Eagles to win
this pool. Second Baptist is a bit of an unknown here and hard to predict. The
only for sure thing here is that Texas commit SR QB Connor Wood is the real deal
no matter what level of football your playing. Jersey Village is not usually a
good 7on7 team but they are getting better and went 2-1 at the Cy Falls SQT and
their only loss was by 2 points to Cy Falls. Klein has only played in one SQT so
far but they were the champs as they went 5-0 on the day and played in an
extremely tough pool. SR TE Eric Tomlinson is almost unstoppable as he stands at
6-6 and has terrific hands.
-Jay’s Pool B Winner: CY FALLS (then Jersey Village, Second Baptist) *Klein will
win pool but can’t advance past pool play
POOL C- CY WOODS, SPRING, STRATFORD, *LANGHAM CREEK
Cy Woods struggled going 1-2 at the Cy Falls SQT and are stuck in a pool where
they see the same two teams that gave them those previous two loses. Spring has
only lost two games all 7on7 season long and it just so happens that those two
teams went on to win the pool and go undefeated while winning that respective
tournament (Langham Creek and Klein). JR WR Greg Livingston and SR WR Arthur
Londy make for an unreal combo and are for some reason both under the radar.
Stratford went 2-1 in their last SQT and only losing by 2 points in their lone
loss. This pool should come down to the winning of Stratford/Spring. Langham
Creek is 7-1 this 7on7 season and their lone loss came in their last game to
Seven Lakes in OT. Look for Langham to come out hungry after that loss even
though they have already qualified. Spring is looking for revenge against
Langham also after their 8 point loss two weeks ago.
-Jay’s Pool C Winner: SPRING (then *Langham Creek, Stratford, Cy Woods)
Darkhorse: Stratford
POOL D- A&M CONSOLIDATED, KLEIN FOREST, WOODLANDS, *TOMBALL
A&M Consolidated will be making the trip to the Houston area for the second
straight weekend and will be hoping for better results. They went 2-1 in pool
play but won by only a combined 8 points then lost to Bellaire by 19 in the
final game to determine the pool winner. Klein Forest went 1-2 in the Cy Falls
SQT two weeks ago but lost both games by a combined 6 points. I expect this team
to perform much better now that they have some experience for their younger
contributers. Woodlands surprised a lot of people last weekend at the Texans SQT,
but not in a good way. The Highlanders went 0-3 (albeit in a death pool). Losing
flies in Woodlands about as well as a lead balloon (although those of you who
watch Mythbusters have seen that analogy put to rest) no matter what the sport
or game so expect a better effort this time around but they are once again
facing some very stout opponents. Tomball went 2-1 in their pool for the second
straight time but advanced out this time and made it count as they went on to
qualify for the state tournament before losing to Klein in the championship
game. SR WR/ATH Jordan Leslie is simply amazing to watch and is a must see if
you will be there.
-Jay’s Pool D Winner: KLEIN FOREST (then Woodlands, A&M Consolidated) *Tomball
will win pool but can’t advance past pool play
