The Friendswood Mustangs hosted the Pearland Dawson Eagles Friday night in a big 24-4A match-up at Henry Winston Stadium to see who would take another step towards the district title. TPI was on hand for the action, and we bring you this recap including photos from the game.

The Friendswood Mustangs held their Homecoming friday night as they hosted the Pearland Dawson Eagles in match-up of teams who were each 3-1 in district play coming into the game.

Senior quarterback, and Texas Tech commit, Jacob Karam wasted little time showing why he was one of the most sought after signal callers in the state this year.

The Eagles took their initial drive down the field and into Mustang territory before going for it on fourth and three and coming up short.
Karam and the Mustang offense took over and went right to work.

Karam hooked up with wide receiver Andre Gautreaux on a 51 yard bomb to take them down to the Eagles 24 yard line.
Junior running back Andrew Cole then took the ball and made it down to the 1 yard line, before Karam finally punched it in from 1 yard out.

After giving up very little to the Eagles on the next series the Mustangs got the ball back, and Karam went back to work.
He connected with Cody Bergeson on a 68 yard scoring strike that put the Mustangs up 14-0 with 2:38 left in the first quarter.

On the ensuing kick-off the Mustangs kicked the ball short and the Eagles were unable to get a hold on the ball as the Mustang's Alec Williams recovered the loose ball on the Eagle 35 yard line.

The Mustangs would then score again off Karam's arm with touchdown strike of 20 yards to Gautreaux.

The Mustang defense stepped up again, and put the Eagles in the position of having to go for it on fourth and short, and stopped them again taking the ball back at the Eagles 32 yard line.

Yet again it was Karam, this time finding Austin Fitzpatrick on a 17 yard touchdown pass.

On the next Eagle possession the Mustang defense held again and got the ball back for the offense who proceeded to score again on a 42 yard touchdown scamper from Cole to make the score 35-0 with 8:45 left in the first half.

The route was pretty much on at this point.

Karam finished the night going 17 of 27 for 342 yards and four touchdown passes. Gautreaux finished the night catching four balls for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He also stepped in at quarterback late and threw a touchdown pass to Robert Smith to the amusement of his Mustang teammates.
Cole would finish with 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Dawson tried to get some momentum together late in the first half, but turnovers cost the team again.
After getting on the board off a 47 yard Akeem Blackshire run with 7:40 remaining in the first half, the Eagles successfully recovered the on-side kick and drove down the field with some intensity, including a 28 yard pass and amazing catch by Marcus Vaughn on fourth down But, after getting first and goal at the Mustang eight yard line, they turned the ball back over to Friendswood.
Blackshire would finish the night with 87 yards off 11 carries including 2 touchdowns.

Dawson's other running back Xavier Brown also chipped in with 112 yards rushing, most of which came on a 70 yard touchdown run mid-way through the fourth quarter.

Friendswood totaled more than 550 yards of offense on the night, and was able to hold the Eagles passing offense to only 176 yards through the air, by keeping Eagles quarterback Darian Lazard on the run most the night.
