Arlington rolled past Duncanville 46-6 in the championship of the Southlake Carroll SQT Saturday, however both teams clinched the day's biggest prize which was two spots in the 7 on 7 State Tournament on July 11-12. Check out a recap of the day's action!

SOUTHLAKE- Much like the heat the action was hot and heavy on Saturday at Southlake Carroll’s SQT. Duncanville and Arlington both clinched their first ever spots in the 7 on 7 State Tournament at Texas A&M in hotly contested semi-final matchups. Arlington won a thriller over Richland 45-39, while Duncanville took a heated semi-final win over Colleyville Heritage 20-13 as DHS scored with less than a minute left to win as Chad Taylor caught a short touchdown pass from Larry Miller to seal the win. In the championship Arlington ambushed Duncanville 46-6, as the Colts jumped out a big 34-0 lead at halftime and put it on cruise control in the second half.

POOL A

On paper this pool appeared to be the toughest but in the end it turned out to be the playground for Denton Guyer who went through unbeaten for the second week in a row. Guyer who qualified for the State Tournament at Colleyville Heritage then beat Boswell 39-21, while Arlington knocked off Southlake Carroll 33-25. POOL B

Duncanville’s defense was the story of this pool as in their three pool wins they allowed only 25 points. Offensively the Panthers struggled for most of the day as WR Chayse Joubert was hobbled with an ankle injury and QB Larry Miller had trouble adjusting to an extremely strong cross wind. DHS opened the day up holding off a tough Fort Worth Eastern Hills bunch 20-6, EHHS had several chances to make things interesting but the Highlanders could not convert. Keller Fossil Ridge handled Colleyville Heritage’s JV 39-0. Duncanville kept their strong defensive play going as they defeated Fossil Ridge 18-7 while Eastern Hills knocked off Colleyville Heritage’s JV 29-26 after falling behind 26-14 at halftime. Duncanville then fell behind the Colleyville Heritage JV 12-0 at halftime before rattling off 25 straight points to win 25-12 while Eastern Hills beat Fossil Ridge 14-6.

POOL C

With Arlington Lamar having already qualified the Vikings could have mailed today in and played a lot of young kids, but the Vikings did that last week so to avoid rust most of their starters played. The work paid off as the Vikes posted a 3-0 mark, however because Lamar had already qualified Colleyville Heritage advanced out of the pool with a 2-1 mark. Lamar opened the day up with an impressive 48-20 won over Colleyville Heritage, while Mansfield Legacy surprised Lewisville 26-13. Legacy continued their strong play playing Lamar tough losing 21-18, while Colleyville Heritage beat Lewisville 32-25. In the final game needing to beat Mansfield Legacy to secure a slot in the semi-finals Colleyville Heritage jumped out to a 27-6 lead and cruised to a 33-12 win.
