After a huge senior year, Cy Falls WR Darius Bolden is reaping the rewards of his hard work. He found the end zone 20 times this season and now looks to score on one of a few Division I colleges. He has the offers and the visits lined up. So what’s next? TexasPrepInsider spoke with Bolden about his next step in recruiting.

If an athlete plays on a team that is known for putting up big points on opponents, there will be a number of athletes who contribute to that success. And Cy Falls (TX) is one of those teams and wide receiver Darius Bolden played a huge role on the Golden Eagles’ team.

After making a strong presence this past season, the 6-foot-0, 175-pound Bolden has a couple of offers from schools that are requesting his services and a few others in the hunt.

“I have offers from Texas State and Sam Houston,” Bolden said. “I have also been hearing from Iowa State, Rice, the Citadel, and Central Arkansas. Hopefully more schools will come and talk to me, but I already have visits set up with two of them.”

Those visits are set for Texas State on January 11 and Sam Houston on the 25. Outside of this, Bolden also mentioned that one of the schools pursing him is high on his list.

“I really want to hear from Rice,” Bolden said. “I am high on their academics. I hope to get an offer from them or any others. The academic standards are the main thing I look for in colleges.”

This past season, Bolden earned all Greater Houston honors after catching 58 passes for 1,133 yards and 20 touchdowns. Besides the educational side of things, he looks at the coach-to-player relationship, facilities, and location of schools.

But there is one thing in particular that does not play a huge role in his future decision, which should come before signing day.

“I really don’t focus on the success of the previous season,” Bolden said. “I focus more on academics and the character of the coaches. I plan to give a verbal commitment before signing day.”
