Late Friday afternoon the Houston Chronicle reported that Westfield HS star football player Herman Mitchell was shot and killed in front of an apartment complex on the north side of Houston.
Mitchell was a 6-0 200 senior linebacker for the Spring Westfield football team. Herman had verbally committed to the University of Oklahoma for next season. He had been projected as the 16-5A Defensive player of the Year by scout.com for his upcoming senior season.
Last year he had a tremendous season including 115 tackles and four sacks as well as an interception. One Westfield assistant coach said that Herman was a natural born leader, and just loved people.
The Scout.com family and texasprepinsider.com family would like to say our thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as his extended family at Westfield HS.
