Providing our fans with the best high school and recruiting news is the aim at TexasPrepInsider. Today, we take a look at the many coaching changes that have occurred over the past year.

Though the reasoning is somewhat hazy, but plenty of coaches across the state have made the change from where they were in the 2008 season. In fact, more than 200 programs will have a new coach on the sideline in 2009.

For the Houston area, 29 coaches will be on another sideline representing a new squad.

Lots of turnover went on in Houston ISD as Worthing, Sharpstown, Wheatley, Scarborough, Westbury, and the latest in Bellaire have all made the changes. Of all the coaches moving, some chose to stay within the Houston district with Devin Heasley leaving Scarborough for Sharpstown where coach Gary Gutierrez once was.

Brandon Ellis accepted his first head coach job over at Worthing while former Westbury offensive coordinator Stephen Hill takes over for Keeath Magee, who has opted for the Fort Bend Willowridge program. Bruce Lane is the new man at Fort Bend Baptist.

While on the subject of Houston area private schools, there were a few changes. After leading many stat championship teams at St. Pius X, coach Robin Kirk has made the move to 3A team Hidalgo. Bobby Lindquist takes over at Concordia Lutheran.

More than a fair share of changes went down in Aldine ISD as well. In fact, Eisenhower was the only program to not get a new coach in 2009. Lionel Crawford takes over at Aldine after coaching at a newly formed North Forest team, former coach Bob Jones moves on to Shepherd. Bernard Mulvaney takes over for Jerry Drones at Macarthur and Robert Toomer for Nimitz.

Coach David Suggs spent for than a few years at Nimitz, but opted for the Galveston Ball jobs after Ron Holmes retires after more than three decades with the Tors.

Moving more towards the Southeast, the Golden Triangle had its fair share of movers and shakers. With Ronnie Thompson leaving Port Arthur Memorial, that allowed Thompson’s long time offensive coordinator Kenny Harrison a shot.

Beaumont Central and Ozen, both have new guys running show while Legacy Christian has a head coach opening. Randy Crouch returns to Little Cypress-Mauriceville after being an assistant at West Orange Stark and Brandon Faircloth takes over at Port Neches-Groves.

In other areas, Dick Olin moves to Dallas/Fort Worth area as the Lewisville coach while Marvin Sedberry Jr. leaves DFW to take over at Baytown Lee. In Spring Branch, rival schools do somewhat of a swap after Stratford assistant Ron Rogers takes the Northbrook job after Craig Cripps leaves Northbrook to join the staff at Stratford.

Cy Fair ISD program Langham Creek hired long time Cy Falls assistant Todd Thompson for the Lobo coaching job. Caney Creek (Dan Burk), Tarkington (Robert Carr), and Stafford (Bill Wilson) all have new coaches for 2009 respectively.
