2009 CY FALLS SQT
POOL A- CY FALLS, WALLER, CY RANCH, JERSEY VILLAGE
Cy Falls has been known to set the pools in their favor and this year is no
different, although in the semi-finals it wont be as easy . The defensive
backfield for the Golden Eagles will have two leaders in SR DB Cedric Williams
and SR DB Josh Rogers while the offense will be led by the emerging JR RB Pierre
Lucas. Waller wont wow you with talent but are gritty and led by SR QB Miller
Pierce and SR WR Chris Tompkins. Cy Ranch has a very tough road ahead of them because they are a new school but when your head coach is Gene Johnson (formerly HC at Klein Forest and FB Hightower) then your already on the right track and Cy Woods has shown him the blueprint to make an immediate impact. Jersey Village is coming off a a very tough fall season but they
do have some big playmakers coming back such as SR RB Jammell Alfred, SR DB Von
Darrick Jones, and SR LB DaDeric Curry.
Jay’s Pool A Winner: CY FALLS
POOL B- CY FAIR, TOMBALL, CY SPRINGS, KLEIN COLLINS
Cy Fair is finally realizing L.I.M. (Life After McGuffie) and should be much
better this year with experienced players like SR QB/RB Tevin Champagne.
Tomball has the big name in SR WR Jordan Leslie and that could be all that they
need to win this pool. Cy Springs surprised a lot of people last season and one
of the main reasons was the play of SR QB Hunter Arter. Klein Collins is not a
natural 7on7 team because of their base offense but they have their share of
athletes like SR RB JaMichael Rozier, SR DB Sam Shaw, SR WR Brett Hume, and SR
RB Kenneth Centamore.
Jay’s Pool B Winner: KLEIN COLLINS
POOL C- CY WOODS, SPRING, ALIEF TAYLOR, LANGHAM CREEK
Cy Woods showed last fall that being a first year varsity program doesn’t have
to be a bad thing. This season they will return SR RB Jeremy Conley, SR WR
Jonathan Cross, and SR DB Bryce Callahan. Spring is ready to explode
offensively led by SR WR Arthur Londy and JR WR Greg Livingston. Alief Taylor
has gobs of talent including returning JR RB Traveon Taylor and SR FS Alex Gordon. Langham Creek makes throwing the ball around look easy with a cast of
characters like SR QB Will Bryant, SR WR Mitchell Juergens, and SR WR Garrett Juergens.
Jay’s Pool C Winner: SPRING
POOL D- KLEIN FOREST, BAYTOWN LEE, CY CREEK, STRATFORD
Klein Forest could be the most talented team at this tournament but the question
always is can they put it all together? They just might with leaders SR WR/S
Damien Payne, SR LB Cameron Nwosu, and SR S Adrian Bennett. should be enough to
get it done again. Baytown Lee was once thought of as the tops in 7on7 but have
since been on the decline. The Ganders will be led now by SR LB Trey Murray.
Cy Creek always has a respectable 7on7 game because their base offense spreads
it out and throws the ball around and this season will be no different. They
could be ready to break out this year with SR WR Brent Mitcham, JR RB Jermichael Selders, and JR DB Derek Greenup. Stratford will try to win a tough pool with
SR QB Mark Benninger and SR WR Brett Benninger.
Jay’s Pool D Winner: KLEIN FOREST
