13-5A DISTRICT INSIDER |
|
Well nobody will be idle this weekend unless big IKE has something to
say about it, and I'm not talking about the team from Aldine ISD. The
obvious cream of the crop game to watch will be Beaumont West Brook vs
Westfield. |

Westfield @ Beaumont West Brook- Well theres no doubt this game is the
top game in the area. Unfortunately most people are not going to take
the hike to Beaumont to watch this # 2 vs #3 ranked teams in the area.
West Brook is not a team that everybody in the Houston area knows but
they could possibly make a big name for themselves with a win this
weekend. |
|
Klein Forest @ Aldine- After a dominating performance in Ohio vs Warren
Howland in Zero Week the Golden Eagles had a bit of a letdown.
Fortunately they snuck out of Pridgeon Stadium with a win. The defense
allowed a whopping 302 yards through the air against Langham Creek but
the main key was only allowed two scores. Oh, and the fact that Klein
Forest has given up a total of 4 rushing yards all season doesnt hurt
either! |
|
Klein Oak vs Cy Woods- Everybody knew that Cy Woods was going to be at
least an average team in their first varsity season but trust me Coach
David Smith knows exactly what the new kids on the block are capable of
and they will be prepared. After looking very sluggish on the defensive
side of the football vs Cy Creek last week I would look to see that
tested group play much better. |
|
Spring @ Stratford- Ok, this game is not as sexy as last year because it
is missing one key player, QB Andrew Luck. However, if you have been
keeping up with the local teams you know that Spring has a lot of talent
and this could be the season they put it all together. Spring won this
game last year with Luck in the game so it should be near the same
results. |
|
Klein vs Kingwood- No doubt that the Bearkats worked extra hard this
week during practice because Coach Stan Labay will not let his team get
throttled on both sides of the football like they did last week against
a dominating Cy Ridge team. Klein is lucky and should look alot better
on defense because there are not many players like Russell Shephard
around. |
|
Klein Collins vs Aldine MacArthur- Last year this game might have been a
battle of the cellar dwellars but Klein Collins has that spark about
them now and with each win their confidence in themselves is just
growing and growing. Also, with a new coach comes a new system and with
each game under their belt the players are getting more comfortable with
it. |
|
Tomball @ Cy Creek (KP)- Well I know your curious as what the KP stands
for and since Cy Fair ISD now has 2 stadiums the KP will be Ken Pridgeon
Stadium and BC will be the Berry Center. With that said KP might want to
look into replacing the bulbs on the scoreboard after this game! Both of
these teams will throw the ball all over the field and put up points,
but also cant stop a junior high team from scoring. |
|
Dekaney vs College Park- The Wildcats obviously are at a huge
disadvantage with no senior on their football team and it is definitely
showing for Coach Amendola and his young bunch. No doubt this program
will succeed eventually, but the key word here is eventually. The Cavs
probably wont be as good this season as their incredible run last year
but still a very well coached football team. |

Last year you were only able to get my "expert picks" for each of the
games. This year I will put my district knowledge (and manhood) on the
line as I take on fellow TexasPrepInsider writer Sarah Parker. |

Last Week in Review: Westfield just dominated Cy Falls and looks like
they are once again on track. Klein Oak played their first game after
their game the weekend before was cancelled due to hurricane. Spring,
Klein Forest. and Klein Collins found themselves at 2-0, and only one of
those is a shock! The Lions looked very good in their win vs a depleted
Humble team and will try to continue their winning ways. |
|
Looking Ahead: One more week of non-district games for this set of teams
and then it turns to crunch time and the best district in the area will
begin to do battle from within. |
