Kerry's Predicted Order Of Finish
D1 Teams In All Caps
3. Beaumont Central
6. Beaumont Ozen
8. Little Cypress-Mauriceville
District Outlook: This is one District that is very hard to Predict this season. A few teams seem to be down while a couple others have looked to be much better. My surprise team to finish 4th is Vidor, they have a load of players back from last season and looked really well in both their scrimmages.
Team By Team
Nederland Bulldogs: I have the Bulldogs picked to win the District this season after missing the Playoffs for the first time in years in 07. The Dogs return 10 starters and look the strongest on Offense. QB Kirby Bellow and WR Asa Cardenas will lead the Offense. The OL looks very strong especially with the return of Stefan Huber who is one of the best in the State. On Defense the Dogs lose one of the best from last season in Dravannti Johnson (Texas). Only 3 starers return from last season on Defense. DE Wareall Grogan will be one of the best in the Area.
Port Neches-Groves: Tradition and Coaching alone should get the Indians back to the Playoffs in 08. The Indians won the District Title last season but lost alot to Graduation especially on Defense. QB Harrison Tatum and Tb Joshua Wright will lead the Offense while on Defense the young guys will have to step up. DT Jerin Spikes will help lead the charge on Defense.
Beaumont Central: 07 was a season the Jags want to forget. The Jags missed the Playoffs after going 2-5 in District. The Jags should be back on track this season with 12 returning starters. RB Charlie Thomas who may be one of the best in the area returns along with Wr Jeffrey Thomas. On Defense the Jags look strong as well with DB Justin LaBove and LB William Jones.
Vidor Pirates: This is my Surprise team this season. The Pirates have 14 returning starters with a big OL and have looked very good in their scrimmages. Running behind that line will be FB Theron Reynolds. Watch out for WB Jake Peevey as well. On Defense CB Jerrod Williamson may be on of the best in the District.
Lumberton Raiders: What a seaosn last year for the Raider!! Made the Playoffs for the first time in School History, even defeated LaMarque in the Playoffs. Won't be as easy this season with most of last year's team moving on. Lumberton returns only 2 starters on Offense. The Raiders have a great Coaching staff and had a great Offseason so we'll see if this will carry over into 08 or not. I have them just missing the top 4.
Beaumont Ozen: Ever since Coach Thomas Brooks Left (Coach Now At Jasper) the Panthers haven't been the same. In 07 the Panthers finished the season at 3-4 and missed the Playoffs again. Ozen should be improved this year with 15 returning starters. The big question is Discipline!! If they can fix that then the Panthers could finish even higher than i have them. LB Justin Isadore D1 talent will lead the Defense this season and Wr Willie Jefferson will lead the Offense.
Livingston Lions: The Lions are the newcomers to 20 4A. The Lions had a great season last year going 3 deep in the Playoffs. The big question here is can they carry that into 20 4A? QB Harris and RB Parker do return. I have the Lions missing the postseason this year but as i stated earlier in the Outlook this is anyone's District this season.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville: The Bears only return 2 starters from last years 0-7 team. They also replaced several new Asst Coaches. Things could be rough for the Bears again this season, very young and some new folks around.
