TexasPrepInsider's motto is WE ARE THERE and Friday night we were in Everman to check out the Fort Worth North Side Steers and Everman Bulldogs!!

EVERMAN- In the final tune up before the start of the 2008 season the Everman Bulldogs flat out have a lot of work to do. Everman for the most part of the evening was plagued by fumbles, missed assignments, bad snaps and at times apathy in their scrimmage with Fort Worth North Side on Friday night. North Side who is expected to be much improved has a lot to be happy about as they showed a lot of fight for the evening.

Everman’s rough evening started out on their first set off offensive plays as the Bulldogs twice lost fumbles inside the North Side 20. The only score for Everman came on a 14 yard touchdown run by Sam Birdine. North Side’s first offensive series of twenty plays didn’t go well against the solid Everman defense as the Steers only managed two first downs despite Everman missing starting DL Aaron Bellazin and DE Keith Rushton who were held out for precautionary measures.

Everman’s second offense continued the trend of sloppy play although sophomore speedster Corey Franklin did break off a 35 yard touchdown run. The teams went into an overtime drill and it appeared EHS woke up from their slumber as they scored twice in the overtime drill while North Side’s offense continued to struggle.

The teams then went into a 24 minute running clock live portion of the scrimmage and Everman outscored North Side 21-0 as Devin Woods scored on a five yard run and then Corey Franklin scored twice from 65 and 11 yards out. Overall, Everman’s coaching staff can’t be too pleased with the lethargic effort on Friday. The Bulldogs at times seemed lifeless and they lacked intensity.

On offense a bright spot is QB Marcus McAdoo is progressing nicely as he continues to make all the throws early. The backfield is deep, but the offensive line just appears to be out of sync. Everman will likely have trouble moving the ball early on consistently. North Side has to be happy with simply coming out and competing hard, the Steers lack depth however they play very hard and get after it.
