Kerry's Predicted Order Of Finish

Division 1 Team in all Caps

1. Newton

2. KIRBYVILLE

3. Woodville

4. Hemphill

5. San Augustine

6. Shelbyville

22 2A District Outlook: Kirbyville dropping down to Class 2A from 3A is the big news in this District. Newton who is always a powerhouse will now have a war with Kirbyville for the top spot. These two teams will meet in week 10 which will most likely determine the District Champ. The 3rd place spot will be up for grabs.

Newton Eagles: What else is there to say about Head Coach Curtus Barbay and trhe Newton Eagles? One of the most winningest Coaches around and always loaded with talent. I have the Eagles finishing first. Newton returns 11 starters including RB James Burch and two good Wide recievers in Stephen Alfred and Jacoby Ross. Both have great Hands and speed. "Wide Reciever has a D1 Body says Barbay".

Kirbyville Wildcats: The Wildcats were the winners in the Realignment moving down to 2A from 3A. Look for the Wildcats to challenge Newton for the Title and i would not be a bit surprised if Kirbyville wins the District. The Wildcats are my pick for the D1 2A State Championship. The Widlcats are lead by WR Randy Musgrove, QB Arron Hazlewood and RB Broderick Jackson, all of which have D1 talent. The Defense returns 7 starters and 7 good ones. DE Decovin Booker, LB Stefan Jackson just to name a few. Not many question marks on this Defense either.

Woodville Eagles: The Eagles will look to improve their 6-4 record from 07. RB Jarvis Barlow and QB Calib Hadnot will lead the Offense. Hadnot has great speed and has D1 Potential. On Defense the Eagles return 5 starters including LB Eric Davis and LB Jeremiah Gentz. Special teams look good for the Eagles with Kicker Taylor Rhorer returning. The Eagles will have to stay healthy to compete for that 3rd place spot.

Hemphill Hornets: The Hornets had a great season in 07 finishing at 6-5 before falling early in the Playoffs. Hemphill only returns 3 on Defense but 5 on Offense. Looks like several Sophmores will start this season so the Hornets will be young but quick. RB Rhett Smith and Alfredo Bennett along with QB Luke Hall will lead the Offense. "We'll have to have our young guys step up and stay healthy if we want to make the post season says HC Tommy Hall".

San Augustine Wolves: The Wolves finsihed 07 with a 2-8 record. Coach Graves said we will be much better this season. The kids have worked hard this Summer says Graves. RB Fred Mosby will lead the Offense. On Defense the Wolves return 8 starters lead by DE Michael Holman and DT Josh Davis. Coach Graves and the Wolves won a 2A title a few years back and this team has the potential to start heading in that direction this year.

Shelbyville Dragons: The Dragons finished the 07 seaosn at 2-8 and there is only way to go in 08 and that is up. It's going to be tough especially with Kirbyville joining the District, but the Dragons do return 16 starters. On Offense Ryan Williams has a great target in WR Deshan Burrell. The WR position looks strong for the Dragons in 08. DE Andre brown will led the defense. I can see the Dragons improving their record in 08 but missing the Postseason.
