Klein Forest and Lufkin both advance after a grueling all day battle.

The Lufkin SQT had it all including some overtime thrillers, tremendous plays and of course a rain delay! After the first round of pool games finished a storm hit the Lufkin High School campus and delayed the tournament for about an hour but then it was right back to the action!

Pool A: Klein continued their 7on7 dominance as they went 3-0 yet again in pool play but could not advance due to the fact that they have already qualified. Lufkin was next in line as they went 2-1 in pool play with their only loss to Klein. Houston Chavez went 1-2 and New Caney had a rough day at 0-3.

Lufkin 58, New Caney 0; Klein 32, Chavez 19; Lufkin 39, Chavez 19; Klein 48, New Caney 19; Klein 34, Lufkin 25

Pool B: Klein Collins went 3-0 in pool play for the second straight weekend and came away as pool winners. Diboll came out on short notice and performed better than expected as they went 2-1 with their only loss in the last game of pool play to Klein Collins. Kingwood went 1-2 and Lumberton battled all day but fell short at 0-3.

Pool C: Klein Forest went a perfect 3-0 and took the pool here today. Oak Ridge had a good overall day as did Beaumont Ozen but both fell just short of Klein Forest. Huntsville lost their first game then during the rain delay decided to leave and forfeit their last two games of the tournament.

Klein Forest 38, Beaumont Ozen 33; Oak Ridge 38, Huntsville 14; Klein Forest 55, Oak Ridge 33; Beaumont Ozen 1, Huntsville 0; Klein Forest 1, Huntsville 0

Pool D: This one was crazy and came down to the third and final game of pool  play. LaMarque came out strong and finished this one at 3-0 but had a tough time vs Stratford in the third and final game. Montgomery played LaMarque extremely tough before losing in overtime.

Montgomery 33, Stratford 21; La Marque 39, PA Memorial 26; Stratford 27, PA Memorial 18; La Marque 41, Montgomery 34 OT; La Marque 33, Stratford 27

Semifinals: Lufkin handled Klein Collins easily 40-19 while Klein Forest took care of business in a big way vs La Marque 42-27.

Championship Game: Klein Forest wins over Lufkin due to them forfeiting the game. The third place game was not played as well.
