Anyone who has been keeping up with Pearland football the last few years knows that there has been no shortage of Division 1 college prospects coming from the program.
Year in and year out the Oilers produce some of the top talent in the area, and this year looks to be no different.
TPI caught up with 3 of the Oiler teammates at last weekends Texas City SQT after they won the tournament to clinch a berth into the State Tournament in July.
After a little celebrating with teamates, Kasey Carrier, Jerrad Stewart, and Kevin Miller took a few moments to update us on what was in the works for them in the next few months.
As profiled already here on TPI Stewart confirmed right away that he had committed to play football at Utah, and that other than a trip to visit Utah's campus, he had no other plans as far as camps go.
Although Carrier and Miller have not received any official offers, both confirmed they have seen a lot of interest coming in.
"Right now I am hearing the most from Boise State, Texas Tech, and Utah." Carrier said. "I am going to try to camp at Boise, Tech, and Utah...oh, and I want to try to make it to Southern Miss."
Although standing at what some might consider a small 5'8 and 175 lbs. Carriers numbers stand tall compared to other backs in the area. Carrier rushed for just over 1,700 yards last year, and had 20 TD's.
Miller also has plenty of plans to keep him busy this summer.
"I am hearing right now from Rice a lot, and Sam Houston". He too has camp plans already laid out. "I am going to go to camp at Houston, Rice, SMU, and Sam Houston".
When asked what plans the three had in mind heading to the State 7 on 7 tournament in College Station, all were excited about the trip, and Stewart added: "Last time we went to the Sate Tournament was a couple years ago, and we made it to the Semi-finals. I think this year we should go back and win it all!"
I also asked the three of them if they had any thoughts heading into their last year of football next year for the Oilers, all three chimed in immediately with a simple, but effective answer. "State"
Stay tuned for more updates from Stewart, Carrier, and Miller as they develop, as well as all the 7 on 7 action being brought to you as it happens!
