Carrollton Ranchview opened up four years ago with high hopes and expectations but those expectations have not materialized as the Wolves are still seeking their first winning season in school history. 15 starters return from a 3-7 squad a year ago and improvement is expected and playing in a friendly 11-3A RHS could be poised to make a strong playoff push. Ranchview who employs a spread offense, likes to run the ball and the Wolves should feature a strong backfield. Junior Dovian Ingram should see a bulk of the work this year after seeing a little time on the varsity as a sophomore. Jared Jones and Cartez James join Ingram to form a nice trio, Jones earned second team all 11-3A honors in 2007. At the QB slot Tyler Lynch is back after throwing 9 touchdown passes as a junior, his favorite target will be Justin Henderson. The key for the Wolves heading into the season will once again be the offensive line, a huge reason for the Wolves struggles has been the lack of production from the offensive line. However for the first time since the school opened RHS features good size on the line which should help out. On defense the Wolves bring back 7 starters, the top player up front is DE Caleb Weiss. Weiss who posted 8 sacks in 2007 was a second team all 11-3A performer. The strength of the defense will lie at the linebacker slot, as Undra Hendrix returns along with first team all-district performer Justin Hagood. Jared Jones who was second team all-district at LB won’t start this year on defense but he’ll provide depth. The top player on defense is Justin Henderson who besides being the top receiver on offense was named District 11-3A Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. Overall look for improvement from the Wolves, in fact I will go ahead and predict the first non losing season in school history for RHS as they feature a non-district loop that is friendly. The playoffs will come down to their Week 10 game in Lake Worth. Winner is likely in the postseason.
