Now that many of the Scout.com Texas Top 100 athletes already hold offers, there are still a large number who have the talent, but have not pulled in the offer to date.
Of course they look for that to change soon. One of those athletes is Strake Jesuit offensive lineman JoJo Williams. The 6-foot-2, 278-pound Williams is pulling in major interest and is getting ready for trip to Evanston, Illinois.
“I have been hearing from: Notre Dame, Connecticut, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, TCU, and Georgia Tech,” Williams said. “I don’t have an offer yet, but I am getting ready to go to Northwestern for a junior day.”
As for the visit, Williams said that assistant coach Randy Bates asked him to come up Friday and talk with him and take a tour of the campus.
He did not name a favorite, but Northwestern has some things that are favorable to what Williams is looking for.
“I’m still open,” Williams said. “But Northwestern has good academics and one of my good friends (David Nwabuisi) is going there and it is in the Big 10. To me, it is a plus to be at a place like this to be a student-athlete.”
But Northwestern is not the only school that has caught Williams’ early attention.
“I kind of like Connecticut too and would like to go up there,” Williams said. “I also plan to go to Texas Tech’s junior day next week.”
