As always Kennedale turns out some excellent talent in the backfield and 2008 will be no exception as RB Aaron Wingfield looks to be next in line. The past two seasons Wingfield has played fullback in the Wildcats Wing-T offense as he ran for over 1400 yards and 16 touchdowns earning first team all 12-3A honors. The 5’8 170 pound back with 4.4 speed as a sophomore ran for 584 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wingfield who sports a 275 pound bench press and a 34 inch vertical leap is also a star on the KHS track team where he specializes in the relays and the 100 and 200. “I am very quick and I’ve got good open field speed,” said Wingfield who is looking to get stronger and put on a little more weight this off-season. Aaron says right now Texas A&M is his favorite but Kansas and Purdue are also in the mix, “I’ve always liked Texas A&M and the fact that they are close to home helps also,” said the Kennedale RB. Look for Wingfield to attend 2 or 3 camps this summer but he isn’t sure where, and possibly in a couple of 7 on 7 tournaments. Aaron lists location, academics and the chance to also run track at the college level as main factors in determining where he lands. ”I’d like to decide early if I can, but if I don’t get any offers I am content to try and have a big senior year and decide near Signing Day,” replied Wingfield when asked on a timeline for a decision. After getting knocked out of the playoffs in the bi-district round in 2007, Aaron hopes to lead KHS to a deep run in 2008. “It was tough getting beat by (Dallas) Roosevelt, hopefully we can make a run this year.” |
