State of Texas Recruiting Recap: Week ending Jan 20 Baylor: The Bears had a big weekend starting witht he commit of Jeremy Sanders from Navarro JC. Chrs Bullajian of Bears Illustrated reports in the big commit this weekend. He gives Baylor a quarterback/athlete who can do damage passing and running. The Bears also welcomed back former commit Mike Williams from West Brook, he is a major talent and gives the Bears another top 100 commit for the class. The last commit for Baylor this weekend is from Shane McCardell of West Brook also. He is another talented Bruin from West Brook and gives Baylor a pass rushing defensive end prospect. Houston: Big weekend as UH picked up Jacolby Ashworth (Lufkin), Chris Wilson (Fort Bend Austin) and Ken Van Huele (Hurst Bell). As of late the Cougars are on fire getting some big name commits in Jackie Hinton, Anthony Lewis and Jarvis Smith. Jacolby Ashworth is a talented offensive lineman who is raw as he has been starting for only one season. Chris Wilson is a big back who can pound the ball and Ken Van Huele is a solid lineman who should fit UH's offense. Rice: Quite week for Rice after landing Michael Patterson, Chris Jammer and Derek Clark the previous week. Look for some action out of the Owls this week. SMU: Big commit this week as Bo Mitchell followed June Jones to SMU after committing to him at Hawaii. SMU has a pair of talented quarterbacks in this class with Mitchell and Braden Smith. Texas: Longhorns had a pair of visitors in D.J. Monroe, already committed to the Horns, and A&M commit Rod Davis. Davis is one of the state's top defensive tackle prospects and would be a majour coup for the Horns, plus they take from their in-state rival. In out of state news Darell Scott is still looking around and has not decided yet, he will wait till signing day. Texas A&M- A&M had only one non-commit visiting this weekend in Waller's Eddie Brown, he left town without an offer and committed to Nebraska. Things could still change if A&M offers him but for now he is Husker. Bad news on the Aggie front as Kapron Lewis- Moore decommitted as has Gilmer safety Lamar Harris. Cyrus Gray all but OFFICIALLY committed to A&M early in the week and that was a huge commit for the Ags. Texas Tech: Only three visitors this weekend but the three are big. D'Anton Lynn from Celina, Keanon Cooper of Dallas Skyline and commit Terry McDaniel (New Diana) all visited this weekend. The big news was a big name transfer from the East coast. Tech looks to be in a good position to get Cooper and that would be the biggest news from the weekend if it happens. Also in the news was Donnie Carona, Beaumont Kelly, committing to Tech this weekend. Overall Tech fans have to be happy with the news. RATING THE WEEK 1. Baylor- big time quarterback, a shut down DB and a pass rushing end, great week. 2. Texas Tech- one commit, one major transfer, gained major ground on a top player in the state 3. Texas A&M- had a couple of losses but Gray was huge 4. Texas- making their rival defend their commits plus Darrell Scott on the radar 5. Houston- three nice commits, this staff can recruit 6. SMU- One commit at a key position 7. Rice - quite week this week
