My name is Kenneth Cluley. I attend Waco Reicher Catholic High School in Waco, Texas. I am the junior quarterback of the 2007 State Champion Cougars. The number I wear is number 11 because of my childhood hero, Major Applewhite. I look up to all shorter quarterbacks who can get the job done. That's how I see myself. This year was fantastic. Winning a state championship was my goal in life since 6th grade while watching my brother, Joey, play at Bishop T.K. Gorman in Tyler. Now that I have accomplished this goal, my next is to win another one and make it a back-to-back state run. I never really thought of winning state as a junior; now that it¢s happened I believe we can for sure do it again.. We have a lot of starters coming back on both sides of the ball. But I can assure you, it will be twice as hard to win state next year as it was this year.
Getting recruited is one of the most exciting things I¢ve ever gone through.. The process is so ongoing and so fun. Every letter I get is like a new birthday present. Most of my letters have been from Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Virginia, Rice, TCU, and North Texas. But I have gone on unofficial visits to the University of Texas and TCU. I was also invited to Tulsa (but couldn¢t go because it was the same week as the Texas game) and Kansas. I would really like to go visit Kansas sometime soon. I would have to say, it¢s my number one school of interest. But my eyes are still wide open looking at every opportunity there is out there.
We started off-season this Monday, and I can tell it is going to be brutal. Every year our off-season is one of the hardest in the state. Being at a TAPPS 3A school with 180 students, there aren't many players to choose from. Our coaches know that and make kids who shouldn¢t even want to play football, great athletes. Since we have about 35 guys on the team, there are at least 9 guys going both ways each year, me being one of them at FS. So, this means that we have to work even harder so we can be in the best shape imaginable. But after this year, I can say that all the hard work paid off, and I hope I can say the same next year.
I have a website if you'd like to visit it.
