Klein Oak @ Spring Lions
Klein Oak 38, Spring 21
10/6/07

The Spring Lions showed right off the bat that they were
not scared of the Klein Oak machine as it only took them a few plays to take the
opening drive all the way back for 6 early points capped by a 12 yard TD run by
SR RB Kurtis Shaw. The Terrence Robinsons, uh, I mean the Klein Oak Panthers
showed right off the bat that they were scared of tough competition and that
Terrence Robinson welcomed playing the school where he played his SOPH season at
before transferring as SR ATH Terrence Robinson scored himself on a 10 yard TD
run that tied the score at 7-7. After a Spring turnover Klein Oak scored on
another Robinson TD run, this time from 80 yards out with 1:24 left in the first
and a 14-7 Panther lead. There were no scores until 4:15 left in the second
quarter that started a barrage of offensive output. Terrence Robinson scored his
third TD of the game on an 8 yard run. That score was followed by a TD run on a
quarterback sneak from 3 yards out by JR QB/WR Kenric McNeal that made it 21-14.
For the third score within a 3 minute time frame Texas Longhorns verbal commit
SR WR Desean Hales took the ball in on a 12 yard scamper to put the halftime
score at 28-14 in favor of the Panthers.
The second half began just like the first half for Klein
Oak as none other than Mr. Robinson scored on an amazing 65 yard run with 11:14
left in the third quarter. Klein Oak once again scored late in the third quarter
on a 45 yard FG by SR K Trent Doerner on a wet and very slippery field. With the
score at 38-14 Spring hung tough and showed a lot of effort as they scored on a
drive with a 30 yard TD run by SR RB Kurtis Shaw. Klein Oak JR DB Kevin Williams
intercepted a pass early in the fourth quarter on their side of the field that
helped seal the deal for a Panther win. An odd play occurred late in the fourth
quarter when Spring had the ball inside the five yard line and Shaw attemped to
stretch out for the goal line and it appeared the ball hit the ground and caused
Shaw to lose control of it. An alert SOPH DB Luke Muncie scooped the ball up a
few yards deep in the end zone and ran 88 yards before being brought down by the
Lions. That drive resulted in a missed field goal but the damage had already
been done as the score remained 38-21 for the remainder of the game. If not for
two costly turnovers inside the 10 yard line by Spring late and two turnovers on
their own side of the field early in the game the Spring Lions showed they can
move the ball very well. However, Friday night definitely belonged to Terrence
Robinson and the Klein Oak Panthers offense.
Klein Oak SR WR DeSean Hales caught 5 balls for 38 yards
and had 12 carries for 93 yards and a TD. SR ATH Terrence Robinson had a
spectacular 15 carries for 230 yards and 4 TD. Spring had a solid offensive
showing as well as JR QB/WR Kenric McNeal was 13-20 passing with 218 yards. SR
RB Kurtis Shaw caught 4 passs for 121 yards and rushed 12 times for 51 yards and
2 TD.
