Klein Oak Panthers @ The
Woodlands Highlanders
Klein Oak 33, The Woodlands 14

The Highlanders began the game in amazing fashion as one of
the first few plays from scrimmage went for a touchdown. SR QB Tyler Eckenrode
took the snap from center and handed it off to SR WR Lance Dozier who was coming
across in motion, then handed it off to JR WR Ryan Eastman who took a few steps
with it before flicking the ball back to Eckenrode. He then eluded a defender,
stepped up into the pocket, and delivered a 56 yard TD pass to JR WR Alex Tweedy. After that play the Klein Oak Panthers showed why they are state ranked
and # 3 in the area. The Panthers stuck back quickly as SR ATH Terrence Robinson
took the shotgun snap from center and kept the ball on a zone read play for a TD
that tied the game at 7. A 35 yard punt return by SR WR Desean Hales set up
another TD run, this time from 13 yards out and by Hales. The last score of the
half was a 12 yard TD by Terrence Robinson once again. Robinson took the shotgun
snap, rolled right and got bottled up, bounced back to the left side of the
field and snuck in for 6 points. A blocked extra point attempt left the halftime
score at 20-6 in favor of the Panthers.
The second half was just more of the same as the Panthers
opened the scoring up with a 16 yard TD run by none other than Terrence
Robinson, who just returned from a visit at Wake Forest. The two point
conversion attempt was no good. The Woodlands did find some spark as SR QB Carey Poarch came in at the third quarter and threw a TD pass of 43 yards to Tweedy to
bring the Highlanders within 12 at 26-14. Klein Oak responded right back once
again with a 2 yard TD run by Robinson that made the score 33-14. Poarch led his
team down the field again but was picked off by JR DB Jacobe Shankle in the
endzone to seal the game for the Panthers. A few noteworthy items was the two
punt returns that were called back by each team. JR Alex Tweedy had a 50 yard
return called back while the same happened to SR DeSean Hales who had a 90
yarder that went for a TD called due to an illegal block. Also the The Woodlands
SOPH OL Chad Lindsay was out due to an injury suffered vs North Shore so the
line was anchored by SR OL Brandon Thompson who has Nebraska and Texas A&M on
his short list.
The Klein Oak
Panthers were led by SR ATH Terrence Robinson who had 28 carries for 195 yards
and 4 TD. SR WR DeSean Hales had 2 receptions for 33 yards as well as a rushing
TD. The Panther defense held SR RB Tracy Milo to only 13 rushes for 54 yards.
The passing game was just about the only thing that worked for the Highlanders
as JR WR Alex Tweedy had 9 recptions for 184 yards and 2 TD. SR QB Tyler
Eckenrode was 10-14 for 128 yards and a TD. SR QB Carey Poarch was 7-14 for 102
yards and a TD as well.
