Week 2 games in 19-5A will be: Stratford and Spring, Aldine and Klein Forest, Macarthur and Klein Collins, Spring Woods and Atascocita, and Northbrook Waltrip. The Nimitz/Port Arthur Memorial game and Houston Memorial/Pearland should be the top games of this district. Nimitz and Houston Memorial are both coming off big Week 1 wins.

Houston Stratford vs. Spring: Stratford’s ground game last week against Elsik should give the Spartans a balanced attack as they head to Spring. Spring comes off a loss to Smithson Valley, but I think these teams match up fairly well. QB Andrew Luck will be on top of his game in this one. Stratford by 12.

Aldine vs. Klein Forest: Aldine plays a very tough preseason schedule and this week’s opponent is no easier. Klein Forest is 2-0 under the leadership of Ford Lakin. I see a lot of points scored in this game, but I think the Golden Eagles will take this one. Klein Forest by 14.

Aldine Nimitz vs. Port Arthur Memorial: Nimitz’s ground game, led by Marion Grice, has been effective in the Cougars’ two wins. Memorial brings plenty of speed and talent to the table and will turn this into a good game. But I think the Cougars pull it out. Nimitz by 14.

Houston Memorial vs. Pearland: Memorial came out hard against Jersey Village and pulled out the victory. The Mustangs will have to face a stingy Pearland defense and a run-happy offense led by Kasey Carrier. Oh yeah, and they play at ‘The Rig.’ Pearland by 10.

Aldine Macarthur vs. Klein Collins: Both teams come into this contest 0-2. Macarthur lost both games by close margins and will be hungry for a win. The Generals are likely to come out on top. Macarthur by 14.

Spring Woods vs. Humble Atascocita: Spring Woods travels to Humble to take on the expansion team Atascocita. Both are seeking win No. 1. Spring Woods will look for rhythm offensively after 175-yard performance against Cy Creek. Not a lot scoring in this game, but I’ll take Spring Woods. Spring Woods by 7.

Northbrook vs. Waltrip: Northbrook has two wins under its belt and comes into this contest with momentum. Look for RB Eric Banks to have a huge game. The Raiders will likely start district with a 3-0 record. Northbrook by 14.
