# = D2 playoffs
Lufkin-
Absolutely way too much talent on this team that is ranked top 10 in the state.
Nobody should come close to the Panthers during district play once again as
Lufkin
cruises to another undefeated district record.
Woodlands- The
lack of depth for the Highlanders from
College Park
opening now finally catches up to them but they should still have the talent to
take second place in this district that is much weaker than its local neighbors
of 14-5A and 16-5A. If not second place, a playoff spot is still a lock.
College Park-
Magical first varsity season under highly acclaimed Coach Carson gives a huge
boost of confidence coming into this season. Unfortunately their playoff march
had an early end thanks to
Klein
Forest
, but the Cavaliers are on a fast pace to become a very good team and should be
in the playoffs for the second straight season with 14 returning starters.
Conroe- 5-1
coming into the last 4 games of the regular season was the Tigers spot last
year. All they had to do was win one game down the stretch and could not manage
a single win. Luckily they are in a district where 4 out of the 6 teams make
playoffs and one of the teams is Magnolia.
Conroe
should at the very least be able to handle
Oak Ridge
this year and make their first playoff appearance in a very long time. The
Offense should do its job but DC McCleans defense will need to stop the FB dive
against option teams like
College Park
and
Oak Ridge
to even have a chance.
Oak Ridge- The
War Eagles will only have 9 returning lettermen on this seasons team and they
will be greatly affected by that number. Fortunately, they have a few new faces
that could make a big splash. The main question though is can they beat
Conroe
to sneak into that fourth spot like last season.
Magnolia- The
lowly Bulldogs will have to scrap and fight in every single they play this
season. Last season they were able to sneak up on an
Oak Ridge
team that was down after losing two huge games to
Lufkin
and Woodlands. Beating anybody in this district will be
an accomplishment for the Bulldogs as they will have a very
long season.
