16-5A DISTRICT PREVIEW 16-5A 1. * 2. # 3. # Klein Oak Panthers 4. * Spring Lions 5. Klein Bearkats 6. Tomball Cougars 7. Klein Collins Tigers * = D1 playoffs # = D2 playoffs Westfield- The Mustangs may not have all the huge names that they have grown accustomed to having, but RB Bo Walker, TE Jon Gimm, LB Herman Mitchell, and DB Broderick Brown should be enough firepower to take this district once again. Klein Oak- With a magical playoff run in the rear view mirror the Panthers return a lot of that team that has their eyes set on a much bigger prize. With so much speed on the field on offense and the defense loaded with returning talent the Panthers should make it back to the postseason. Spring- Last season was a huge letdown but it got a lot of valuable experience as the Lions will return 16 starters and moved their star athlete Kendric McNeal to the QB position. That maturity will help them in this tough district try to slip into the playoffs. Klein- If the Beatkats end up not making it to the big dance they could be one of the best teams in the state left out. Klein will battle it out with Spring for the last spot and definitely has a shot at making it back as well to avenge their first round exit last season. They have a huge line but will need the skill players to step up to make a big run. Tomball- New coach has installed new system and winning ways, but unfortunately in this district you have to have the talent base to go along with it, and Tomball just does not have the skill players to match the speed and athletic ability of the top teams. Klein Collins- Collins had their season of glory a couple of years ago, and unfortunately for Tiger fans Mike Goodson is now at Texas A&M. They have a very good base of young talent now but just not quite enough to move up into the playoff race with so many great teams in this district. PROJECTED 16-5A
