Eric Lair names his favorites

Top Houston area tight end shares his top teams caught up with Houston Lamar wide receiver/tight end prospect Eric Lair who checks in at 6-3.5, 215 pounds and clocks a sub-4.5 forty. Talk about a kid who passes the eyeball test, the Houston Area pass-catcher talks scholarship offers, favorites, summer camp agenda, official visits, etc...

Eric Lair plays his ball at Houston Lamar and while he didn't put up the numbers last year he was capable of (27 catches, 328 yards, 3 TDs as a junior) that was due in large part because of a run-oriented offensive attack. Don't look for that to be the case this upcoming season as Lamar goes to a pass-happy scheme, featuring plenty of empty back sets. Kid is primed to blow it up in his final season as a prep. We caught up with the 6-3.5, 215-pound wideout to talk recruiting...

"I have a couple of offers from Baylor and Oklahoma State," Lair said. "But Oklahoma said they're going to offer when I go to their camp this Thursday (June 7) and Fresno State said they were going to offer after the first game (or two) of my senior season -- they just want to see a little bit more (preferrably in the passing scheme Lamar will employ for the 2007 season, a scheme that promises to showcase his skills, talent and upside)."

Summer Camp Agenda: "I went to the Oklahoma State camp (May 30) and I'm going to the OU camp this Thursday (June 7). I'm not sure if I'll go to any other camps, but I might."

His current favorites are as follows "Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Fresno State and Texas A&M."

Thoughts on his Faves...

Oklahoma State: "They're close to home and I really like Coach Joe DeForest. He's really nice. And, I like the direction of their program."

Baylor: "They're in the Big 12, they've offered me, and they're close to home."

Oklahoma: "I'm going up there this Thursday and Coach Kevin Wilson said they're going to offer me when I get up there. They said they don't know if they'll offer me as a tight end or wide receiver."

Iowa State: "I just like the new coaching staff. And I think they're on the rise. I've been talking to Coach Jay Rodgers."

Texas Tech: "They have a really aggressive offense. I mean they're airing it out up there. And, I like Coach Dana Holgorsen."

Fresno State: "I like their program, they said they're going to offer me -- I just like them."

Texas A&M: "I want to major in engineering and they have a good engineering program. I like their football program and I like Coach Van Malone."

________________________________________________________________________________________ Official Visits: "I think I'll definitiely take official visits to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Fresno State. And, right now, I think my fifth would go to North Carolina. We'll see."

Unofficial Visits: "I'll probably also check out Texas A&M unofficially."

Commitment Time Frame: "I definitely want to take all of my official visits before committing."

Stat Package: "27 catches, 328 yards, 3 TDs."

Weight Room Numbers: "310 Bench, 450 Squat, 225 Power Clean."

Academics: "2.7 GPA and I will be trying to get my test score June 2nd." Recommended Stories
