OAK RIDGE DOMINATES LINEMAN CHALLEGE
They call them the non-skill position players, the big guys, the big men and so on. However true football purists know that you win and lose games on the offensive and defensive line. In high school we used to say "the backs get the fame while the linemen bring the pain" and at Saturday's Greater Houston Football Coaches Association Combine Oak Ridge dominated the other linemen teams and "brought the pain". Competing in challenges such as the giant tire toss race, the sled pull, an
agility drill and of course the tug-o-war, the teams competed against each other and put on a show for the fans.
Competing on the day was Channelview, Baytown Lee A and B teams, Westfield A, B, C and D teams, Oak Ridge A, B, and C, Fort Bend Marshall, Rosenberg Terry, Klein Collins, Crosby, Clear Brook , Hastings, Stoney Point, Langham Creek and Cy Springs. The top five teams were as follows
1. Oak Ridge A, 32 points
2. Westfield A, 23 Points
3. Oak Ridge B
4. Westfield B
5. Baytown Lee

As you can tell from the results the big men of Oak Ridge and Westfield put on a show and had their respectives coaches smiling. Of course the crowd enjoyed the show as the enthusiastic parents, fans and others got into the events as the players, pulled, threw and tugged in each competition. For Oak Ridge the dominance was clear and complete finishing nine points ahead of their nearest competition.
Texasprepinsider wishes to thank the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association for yet another great combine where over 2600 people attended. Also thank you for recognizing that the big men should also have their day in the sun.
