NLA Houston 100: DB Recruits

Spring Westfield DB Brian Peavy

FOX Sports NEXT got the chance to take in some action at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston. Here are a few notes on a couple of the players in the secondary.

Peavy Claims Three
After a successful season in the secondary and in the return game, Spring (TX) Westfield defensive back Brian Peavy walked away from the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston with the DB MVP.

"The experience here was great. I got to compete with some high-level guys," Peavy said." It was real competitive. The coaches gave me some tips on how to play on and off man coverage. They were trying to help me to improve my skills."

And the 5-foot-9 170-pound Peavy did that. Last season, he had 49 tackles and two interceptions. He also averaged more than 25 yards per kickoff. That must have been enough to get the recruiting going.

Northwestern, Arizona State, Houston Texas A&M and Baylor are looking at the all-purpose athlete. He is not able to make many visits due to his obligations to the Westfield basketball team.

Santos "Feeling Pretty Good"
Though he does not have an offer, yet, Spring (TX) Klein Collins defensive back Isaiah Santos is "feeling pretty good about" recruiting at this point. The 6-foot, 185-pound Santos recently showed his skills at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase

"No offers right now, but I'm hearing from Michigan, LSU and Duke," Santos said.

At the combine, Santos looked pretty good in drills and one-on-ones. He had a nice, smooth backpedal and played good coverage throughout the day. Last season at Klein Collins, the safety ended up with 78 tackles, seven pass break ups and two interceptions.

He has a utsa junior day invite for February.
