This weekend Mesquite (TX) Horn linebacker D.J. Green will take his official visit to Navy. Green has been in touch with the coaches and has done all of the research possible.
Now he just needs to see for himself.
"I'm going to see Navy this weekend. I have learned a lot from talking with the coaches, but there are some things that I cannot be told," Green said. "I need to see how I feel about everything and how I like the campus. I need to talk with some players who are there and get to be with the coaches. These are things I need to experience for myself."
After the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Green had a mutual split with Baylor last year, he has been steadily looking for where he may end up. Could Navy be that fit? Right now, it is still a school in consideration.
In addition to checking in with Navy, Green has been talking with SMU consistently throughout the process. Green has been open for some time about how he feels about the school that is close to home.
And those feelings have not changed.
"SMU and I are still talking. We are trying to find ways for me to get to SMU," Green said. "The coaches told me if they find and opening, they will offer. I may have to gray shirt or look into an academic scholarship. My family and I like the program and I like their business school."
Green, who finished the year with over 120 tackles and 10 sacks, said that there have a few junior colleges that are showing interest as well. Navarro and Kilgore are the ones he mentioned.
